Smart Museums

In a rapidly changing society which becomes more and more digitized, art is not spared either. Technology has entered museums and art galleries and it is here to stay. Yet, the focus of digitizing museums is not on technology itself but rather on visitors’ experience.

The physical museum should be complemented with digital information of smart museums. Since user experience is very important and according to researchers, museum visitors spend less than one minute in each collection, the question is how to captivate visitors’ attention?

In order to preserve art appreciation and enhance visitors’ knowledge, physical museums are becoming a blend of technology elements.

We at MOSECO believe that the traditional method of masterwork description can be replaced with those that enhance the sensory impact and the real experience of the visitors, be it in a video or audio format. In order to improve communication between visitors and museums, we have recognized that it is very important to focus on visualization, personalization and education.

In relation to visualization, sensory measurement devices can be used to measure how much time a visitor spends in front of different artifacts to determine how to make these pieces more approachable.
On the subject of personalization, museums can optimize wayfinding screens to attract visitors by choosing the most popular collections to see or they can create their own interactive maps easily accessible online through profiles or apps. Also, through these profiles, visitors can share reviews of the collections which are of interest for others after they finished the on-site visit, exchanging information on collections and different pieces and thus actively participate in education of others and themselves.
This can lead to another segment where technology takes over many museum exhibitions; many actual objects offer limited explanations distancing visitors from the actual artifacts and since interaction is very important, why not make museums more interactive itself. This especially comes in handy in the COVID19 world where digitization is here to stay! Digital museums are new now, and equipping traditional museums with technology which will communicate stories beyond the artifacts is the reality we create together!
We at MOSECO bridge visitors to artworks through creating different reality and history available at the fingertip. Discover more on the artifacts and get educated on its history, but also enhance visitors’ experience and make it more enjoyable, we can help you achieve all this!
